The Leftovers goes full-Lost in its most polarizing episode yet

The A.V. Club reviews the eight episode of second season Leftovers and nails my issue with Lindelof scripts:

As was the case with Lost, Lindelof plays with the reason-versus-faith dichotomy, but eventually comes down on the side of faith.

My two gripes:

The dichotomy is always biased towards one side – faith -, but Lindelof pretends it is not the case, at least at first.

He does not take the faith seriously, making real choices. The faith always remains diffuse, it is only used as the perfect McGuffin for feelings.
