This guy has a curious career:
Bob Cavallo began his career in the music business after graduating from Georgetown University where he had been active in bringing music performers to the university such as Dave Brubeck and Dizzy Gillespie. After successful ventures as a nightclub owner (the Shadows, later to become The Cellar Door) and event promoter (Ray Charles, Peter, Paul & Mary) Bob entered the field of personal management. By the age of 25, he established himself as a well-known name in the music industry, having helped put together and guide the highly successful group The Lovin’ Spoonful.
Continuing from the Lovin’ Spoonful, Bob used his creative talents to identify, develop and manage new artists. The list includes: Little Feat, Weather Report, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Emotions, Deneice Williams and Prince. Cavallo later founded and was managing partner of 3rd Rail which provided direction for such artists as Seal, Green Day, Weezer, The Goo Goo Dolls, Savage Garden and Alanis Morissette. Under his management these artists have earned more than 100 gold and platinum records and generated billions of dollars in music industry revenue.
While managing Prince’s career, Bob entered the film production business by producing Purple Rain and Under the Cherry Moon, both of which also spawned phenomenally successful soundtracks
